Snowface
09 February 2007
There are many psychological experiments showing that the human visual cortex is highly tuned for detecting faces, or shape-arrangements that look facelike.
Nonetheless, I still find it amazing that two bits of gravel, some bark and a bent twig can turn a rounded clump of snow into something that not only looks like a face, but also seems to have a distinct personality.
A childhood in Australia didn't provide many opportunities for making snowmen - I think this is actually the first snowman I've ever made.
