For the sake of a Saturday morning walk, we took the kids to Kettle's Yard art gallery to see what they had on display.

No sooner were we through the door than we were magnetically drawn to the free craft room (left), stocked with a cornucopia of string, wire, paper, pens, glue, shiny decorative things - heaven! We were soon absorbed in playing with all this wonderful stuff.

I've always had a fondness for those little wire-and-gemstone trees you see in craft shops, so I made this budget version from shiny wire and some chopped-up strips of metallic honeycombed trim.

Having all arrived in a rather bad mood, we left feeling much refreshed (not having seen any of the gallery - but then making things is usually more fun than just looking at them...)
